Tameletjie Toffee Recipe
 
Ingredients
  • 500g brown sugar;
  • 250ml water;
  • 125g butter;
  • 2ml vanilla esssence; and
  • pine nut kernels, almonds, walnuts or coconut.
Instructions
  1. Dissolve the sugar in water over a low heat, and add the butter.
  2. Boil steadily without stirring for a few minutes, until the mixture starts frothing.
  3. Add the vanilla essence.
  4. Add the chopped pine nut kernels, almonds, walnuts or coconut.
  5. Pour into a shallow well-greased dish and mark off squares with a wet knife.
  6. Leave to cool.
  7. Turn over and break into squares.
  8. Store in an air-tight container.
